Dr. Michael McCarthy is Rural Solution's Managing Director. He has 25 years experience in consultancy, project management and development. He has envisioned and led a diverse range of Rural Solutions projects throughout the UK, including those focused on 'corporate diversification' and he works closely with Trustees and professional advisers. He has held regional and national representative office in the rural regeneration, energy, housing and social care sectors.
Michael has a strong development background and is a Consultant to the Yorkshire Regional Development Agency's Renaissance Market Towns Panel and the author of its 2004 Housing Pilots. He is MD also of Rural Solution's sister company Heritage and Rural and is Project Director of Accent Group's Regeneration Strategy for the market town of Skipton. He was among the early developers in the UK of 'intelligent housing' winning the DTI's first award for Innovation in Housing in 2000.
In the mid-70s he was one of the first post-graduates to undertake a Master's degree on the environment and development. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a British Council Scholar. He brings to bear 20 years experience managing property companies, dealing with recruitment and training and Investor in People.
