Lucy Denton is a heritage specialist who has worked as an architectural historian and arts consultant for Rural Solutions since 2005. She has also worked for Sotheby's in the Country House Sales and British Paintings departments in London and has made written contributions to Hudson's Historic Houses, Sotheby's Preview Magazine and The Times. She was Simon Jenkins' researcher for his England's 1000 Best Houses book from 2001 until publication, and a county co-ordinator and cataloguer for a nationwide Christie's-sponsored project registering publicly-owned paintings in North Yorkshire for a directory published in 2006.
She has carried out research on behalf of English Heritage and has also worked for Phillips Auctioneers and for Simpson & Brown Conservation Architects of Edinburgh.
