Ian Butter is Head of Planning and Land Use at Rural Solutions. In addition to being a key figure in our rural and estate planning work, he is a leading national expert in leisure and tourism development. An active and respected rural planner, he is also the Chair of the Lancashire Local Association of the RICS. He is a former Director of HLL Humbert's Leisure and has 30 years planning and leisure development experience with particular interests in rural development.
Ian leads the company's growing planning services with work encompassing the re-development of redundant assets, land reclamation, housing, leisure parks, marinas, habitats and rural workspace. He has been involved in a lead role in a large number of estate regeneration and diversification projects for Rural Solutions.
He is also currently leading a number of high profile planning initiatives in the East Midlands (rural workspace and housing); Suffolk (rural housing); South Coast and IOW (leisure and amenity); West County (tourism) Yorkshire (rural workspace, community building, redevelopment of heritage buildings).
