High quality restoration and conversion of historic and listed buildings is a hallmark of Rural Solutions’ work. Our construction team has been expanded this year to take on larger-scale regeneration and heritage projects. We are undertaking work throughout the UK.
Rural Solutions offers a single point of project management and accountability to clients seeking to redevelop or revitalise historic or listed buildings.
We have extensive experience of working with the principal heritage organisations, with regional development agencies and with key stakeholders and local communities.
Our areas of work cover:
- Project feasibility
- Building condition and structural surveys
- Design, planning and listed building applications
- Historical and architectural research
- Cost analysis and quantity surveying
- Project management and specialist trades
- Representation and advocacy
- Life cycle costing and ‘green’ construction
Attention to finite resources, to operating costs, to use of energy, to community needs - and to the optimum use and value of land and buildings - demands that rural development projects take account of the ‘green agenda’. This encompasses considerations of sustainability, conservation, recycling, minimising waste, efficient use of energy, green transport and community capacity building.

Market Town Renaissance - Skipton
A unique set of building and community proposals for the regeneration and renaissance of the town of Skipton illustrates a growing part of Rural Solution’s development work, as part of Accent Group, England’s largest community investment organisation. The plans focus on significantly improving the town’s heritage and environment, as well as building homes and investing in neighbourhoods to create sustainable communities.
