A new life for Brynkinalt’s Estate Yard buildings
When the Estate Yard buildings next to Brynkinalt Hall became redundant several years ago, their future posed a number of questions. How could they be preserved and sustained for future generations and what useful purpose could they serve in the modern world?
This is a fine range of buildings, dating back to the early 1800’s and including an Ornamental Dairy and Victorian Laundry. The Trevor Family have seen many changes to the Estate and, understanding the need for progress, were keen to find a way to ensure that the buildings did not become dilapidated beyond use but could be regenerated for a purposeful and sustainable future.
The requirements of 21st century farming meant that an agricultural end use was out of the question. Quite simply, the buildings were no longer suitable. After detailed research by Rural Solutions and working very closely with the client Iain Hill-Trevor, Planning Permission was obtained for their conversion into high quality rural offices – to suit a range of businesses offering jobs in the area, and to enable local people to work close to home without the need for a tedious drive into the region’s towns with their congestion and parking problems.
Brynkinalt Business Centre will comprise around 14,500 sq ft of contemporary space, ranging in size from offices to suit a one/two person business right up the scale to larger companies. With full broadband capacity, an eco-friendly build programme (including a bio-mass fuelled heating system) and careful design both inside and out, the project also features the re-modelling of the stunning Victorian Shrubbery which occupiers will be able to access.
